LAION

LAION, or the Large-scale Artificial Intelligence Open Network, is a non-profit organization dedicated to making machine learning resources accessible to the general public. The organization focuses on liberating machine learning research by providing datasets, tools, and models that encourage open public education and promote environmentally friendly resource usage through reuse of existing datasets and models.

Among the primary offerings of LAION are its expansive datasets, such as LAION-400M, which includes 400 million English image-text pairs, and LAION-5B, comprising 5.85 billion multilingual CLIP-filtered image-text pairs. These datasets are designed to support various machine learning applications and research projects in a diverse range of languages.

Additionally, LAION provides significant models, including the Clip H/14, which is noted as the largest CLIP vision transformer model, and the LAION-Aesthetics dataset, a filtered subset of LAION-5B that focuses on aesthetically pleasing images. All resources offered by LAION are completely free, supporting their mission of open and inclusive AI research.
